Observe, Loosen, Connect

The smallest unit of practice in Nagi is to observe, loosen, and connect.

Observe

Do not put evaluation or conclusion first. Look at what is happening, who is affected and how, and what remains unseen.

Observation is not surveillance or the inference of personality and emotion. Define a purpose, handle only the minimum necessary information, and protect private boundaries.

Loosen

Separate assumptions, roles, conflicts, and habits of language that have become fixed. Do not reduce a problem to simple good and evil; handle facts, feelings, institutions, interests, and time as distinct dimensions.

When danger is urgent, secure safety first. Do not use “loosening” as a reason to delay support or responsibility.

Connect

Do not force different things into sameness. Prepare the conditions in which another conversation or collaboration can become possible.

Do not presume that a relationship must continue. Protect the choices to keep distance, rest, or leave.

This sequence can be used in making work, organizational practice, technical design, dialogue, and record-keeping.
